On a more collegiate note, I have a general sense of what I want to major in, that being international relations. After years of being a closet case, I would like to learn about and interact with people of other nations so that I can benefit from different perspectives on life. This major should prove to be very interesting because it covers my favorite subjects: history, political science, economics and languages.
As part of the major I'll have to study a language, which I had a bit of difficulty deciding. I am able to choose from Chinese, Spanish, French and German. I strongly considered Chinese because there is a lot of money to be had dealing with Chinese businessmen, and rural China seems very interesting. However, I'm turned off by their government, which is oppressive to say the least. Spanish is a great language and can be used in many places to interact with many diverse people. It's almost a perfect match for me, but it was my aim to deal with the people of Spain, which doesn't do much business with the U.S. and has the weakest economy in Europe. French is the language of the French, enough said. German seems very interesting, and is the language of business in Europe, so plenty of opportunity in that department. After much consideration, I think I will study Spanish due to the innumerable opportunities available.
